The news that Steve was a father seemed to perk the man up, or at least bring him out of the stupor he had been in. In fact, he seemed to study James for a few moments, taking in his uniform and appearance. Recognition was always a good thing for traumatized people. Not that she would openly call Steve that, if she had to, she’d say he was shell-chocked, even if that term wasn’t exactly politically correct or exact these days. Maybe, since he was sort of responding, she could get some more food into him. “I’ll be right back. Try to get him to talk a bit, okay? It doesn’t have to be much, just simple conversation will do.”
Zinda had been impressed when she saw what food the Birds, and Bruce, had managed to store down in this bank. There were plenty of MREs, canned goods, bottles of water, and even some items people would have considered a luxury to have, like fresh food and refrigerated item. Reliable generators made by Stark and Wayne Tech made that much of a difference. They had enough supplies to last what seemed like a lifetime, though Zinda hadn’t done a precise count of it all just yet. She was sure Babs had done it already. The woman probably knew exactly what day everything would run out.
Getting enough food for the three of them, Zinda whipped up a quick meal of scrambled eggs, with bits of bacon, bell pepper, and onions mixed in. Nothing fancy, but it was good eating, and no one ever complained about her culinary skills… except for maybe Helena, but Zinda didn’t care what she said, ever since the marinara sauce incident, they both made the effort of staying out of the kitchen when the other was cooking.
Walking back in with the food tray, as well as some coffee for them to drink, Zinda set it down on Steve’s desk. “C’mon, soldier,” she told him. “Time to eat. And you aren’t eating sitting on the ground, because I know for a fact that you are one of the few fellas I know who has never, ever, been a dog. You’re a man. Now get up and eat before I start making you do laps with…” she did a brief calculation in her head to deal with his strength level. “A hundred fifty pounds or more of gear on your back.” After a moment she added, “And if you haven’t already, it’s proper to give visitors a nice greeting an handshake, so hop to it.”

“Yes ma’am.” James said just before Zinda left and he took a seat next to Steve after a bit they got to talking about him. Steve wanted to know more so he told him everything even broke out the pictures again it kept him talking so it was worth it. Eventually they stopped talking and just sat there Steve thinking about everything he had been told and James just kind of zoned out lost in his own little world not really thinking about anything.
They did however both turned their heads when the door opened up again with Zinda returning with food. They then looked at each other when Zinda started to give out orders of what she wanted Steve to do. “Yes dear.” he said before getting up and sitting at the desk while James tried not to laugh over the fact they were kind of acting like an old married couple already. “He did that already.” he said which was kind of a lie he really didn't want to have Steve to stop eating he needed the food more then a handshake right now.

Hearing Steve say 'Yes, dear' made Zinda's heart skip a beat. Not in a lovesick, happy, 'I've been waiting forever for him to say that' but more like a heart attack style beating skipping. She was perfectly happy that he was finally putting in some effort now, especially since it was a joke, but the look she gave gave him, and then James upon seeing him trying not to laugh, was nothing to make fun of.
"James can call me mom all he wants, but until I have a ring on my finger from you, or at least have had a few dates with you under my belt, you got no reason to call me dear, honey-bunch," she smirked. Still not wanting to be outdone by the poster boy for America, Zinda waited between bites before she leaned down and tilted Steve's head back, giving him a nice, long, but chaste, kiss. That would be as far as she'd go. She'd tease the men she'd like, snuggling up close as they'd dance, and lead them along, hoping they get the message that yes, she wanted more from them, but most never took the hint. She hoped Steve wouldn't be as blind. Because in all honesty, she really did like the big guy."Nice to have you talking though," she told him softly.
Taking her own plate, she sat down on the bed, nibbling at her food, but mostly pushing it around for the time being. "So, what's the plan boys? Do we try to rally the troops or do we sit around hoping for some divine intervention? Maybe it'll rain long and hard enough that those things will all short circuit," she half joked.

James took his place picking at his food while Zinda told Steve not to call her dear unless they were married or at least dating before kissing him. “Uh-oh looks like he’s in shock over that kiss.” He said with a chuckle before going back to his food wondering what was going to happen next. He knew they still had work to do to get Steve back to his old self other then that what else was there to do? He never really thought of life without saving people being a hero even if he was wanted by the government. But here he was in a world not his own and nothing to do really.
Just after Zinda asked what the plan was if they were going to rally the troops or sit around hoping for some divine intervention. Right after saying that a face appeared belonging to none other than Aldrif inviting everyone to live on Asgard. Before showing them the closest portal to them. He knew where that was not all that far from here it was just getting there without getting attacked. “Holy crap! Aldrif is ruling Asgard!” to that he just got blank stares in return. “Aldrif is Thor’s older sister.” he told them “I’ve known Thor for years as well as his family he doesn’t have an older sister.” Steve replied.
James sat there thinking for a moment before explaining everything he knew about Aldrif to them including Heaven. “In my time she passed on the throne so Thor took it but something apparently changed in this time. But the main thing is we can start a new life in Asgard then living in a hole in the ground.”

Zinda wanted to kiss Steve again, really she did. She wanted to hold him close and tell him everything would be better. But, she promised herself she would be a good girl and not cause him more embarrassment. After all, she knew Steve had standards and so did she. But there was a part of her that hoped those standards would change one day. "Careful, James. I may do something that will shock you. Like remove my jacket and kiss him some more. Which may lead to more clothing coming off. Strip kissing."
She listened and watched the floating head, a bit stunned by the coincidence of what she had just said. "I did not plan that, just so you know," she said afterwards. Regarding Thor and he whole Asgardian thing, Zinda knew precisely squat. The Amazons and Greek Pantheon were more up her alley and that was thanks to Diana, but she was all for a change of scenery. "If it will help cheer people up and give us a little break from the killer robots, lets do it. There are enough tunnels under Gotham that we should be able to get to the portal easily enough. We pack up what we need and head off to go live with the gods. Or something." That would be another thing she could add to her list of weird things she had done in her life.
